The Essex County Schools of Technology is seeking a 12-month Supervisor of Career, College, and Community Connections for the 2023-24 school year.
 

Position Purpose
- W
orks with the Directors of Career and Technical Education to ensure that all aspects of the Perkins Innovation and Modernization (PIM) grant for Career Connected High Schools are in compliance.


Qualifications:
  • NJ Supervisor or School Administrator Certificate
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with post-secondary institutions
  • Knowledge of Career and Technical Education programs, program approval process, and Perkins V
  • Have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Can handle and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Analyze problems and recommend and implement workable solutions
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to make presentations
 
Performance Responsibilites:
  • Assist the Directors of Career and Technical Education with all aspects of the implementation and evaluation of the Perkins Innovation and Modernization (PIM) grant for Career Connected High Schools including, monitoring and reporting on student attainment of (1) industry valued credentials, (2) dual credits, (3) work-based learning opportunities, and (4) post-secondary success plans.
  • Coordinate efforts with post-secondary institutions to expand partnerships, align curricula, and obtain articulation agreements to expand dual enrollment opportunities for Career and Technical Education (CTE) students.
  • Coordinate the registration and enrollment of students and ensure invoices are processed for partnerships with institutions of higher education. 
  • Assist the Director of CTE Academies with submitting districtwide CTE program applications to NJDOE to expand offerings of high-quality CTE programs that are high wage, high skill and in demand. 
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the process of CTE curriculum development, implementation, and fidelity of instructional strategies to enhance student success. 
  • Monitor and provide monthly reports on teacher/student usage of CTE platforms such as CareerTree, YouScience, and Schoology.
  • Supervise and evaluate CTE teachers; use data from evaluations, walkthroughs, lesson plans and assessments to drive professional development activities targeting the 4 Keys of the PIM grant.
  • Organize professional development opportunities to assist with recruitment of students, especially those in special populations (English Learners (EL), Special Education and non-traditional participants).
  • Oversee and manage the training of teachers and students for the CTE Ambassadors Program. 
  • Foster partnerships with organizations and community leaders to provide students with jobs, guest speaking engagements, career/college days, and mentoring opportunities. 
  • Coordinate student participation in paid work-based learning opportunities such as Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) in conjunction with the Newark and Essex County SYEP. 
  • Assist the Superintendent and Directors of Career and Technical Education in all aspects of district operations. 
  • Reports directly to the Directors of Career and Technical Education.

Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Terms of Employment
 This is a full-time day position during 12 months of the year. This position is governed by the collective bargaining agreement by and between the Board of Education and the Essex County Vocational Education Association.
Compensation
(2022-2023 contractual rate) Contract for 2023-2024 is currently under negotiation.

The Essex County Vocational and Technical High Schools are public schools supported by County, State and Federal Funds. There are five such programs operated by the Board of Education for the Vocational Schools in the County of Essex. These include four high schools and one adult center.  In addition to salary, the Board of Education offers fringe benefits to all employees.
