About Us: Washington Borough Schools is a PreK-6 school district nestled in the heart of Warren County, New Jersey. Our district proudly educates approximately 570 students across two elementary schools: Taylor Street School (PK-1) and Memorial School (2-6). Committed to fostering a culture of growth mindset and collaboration, we are seeking a dynamic Elementary School Principal to join our dedicated team. Position Overview: Reporting to the Superintendent of Schools, the Elementary School Principal will demonstrate proficiency in four key competencies: Transformational Leadership, School Cultural Leadership, Instructional Leadership, and Systems and Operations Leadership. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of core literacy and math content, research-based instructional strategies, standards-based instruction and be researched and aligned with the Science of Reading. The principal will provide unwavering support and technical assistance to both staff and families, driving continuous improvement to enhance student learning outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Transformational Leadership:
- Articulate a clear and compelling vision of academic and behavioral expectations, inspiring staff to embrace it wholeheartedly.
- Foster a collaborative culture of continuous improvement, encouraging feedback from both staff and students to drive positive change.
- Demonstrate resilience and maintain focus amidst challenges, serving as a beacon of determination for the school community.
School Cultural Leadership:
- Cultivate a college-going culture that celebrates academic achievement and personal growth.
- Implement activities and systems that uphold rigorous academic and behavioral standards, promoting character, excellence, and service.
- Establish practices that reinforce positive behavior and maximize learning opportunities for all students.
Instructional Leadership:
- Ensure consistent and effective implementation of high-impact instructional practices.
- Oversee the alignment and delivery of district-wide curriculum and assessments, promoting data-driven decision-making.
- Facilitate ongoing professional development opportunities informed by data analysis, fostering a culture of continuous learning among staff.
Systems and Operations Leadership:
- Manage school operations efficiently to minimize disruptions to teaching and learning.
- Lead recruitment, development, and retention efforts for teachers and staff, nurturing a supportive and collaborative work environment.
- Allocate resources strategically to address student needs and priorities effectively.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Title 1 or similar schools.
- Master’s Degree in Education Leadership or similar field
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools with experience leading Building Data Teams.
- Proven ability to deliver effective staff development sessions in both group and one-on-one settings.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a deep understanding of adult learning strategies.
- Strong organizational, time management, strategic planning, and communication skills.
- Strong work ethic, team-player mentality, and relentless optimism.
