Rock Brook School, a New Jersey Approved Private School for Students with Disabilities, seeks an experienced full-time Principal for the 2022-23 school year and beyond.

Rock Brook school is currently looking to onboard a talented, creative and passionate leader to serve as our full-time Principal. This position requires a thoughtful educator with a deep passion for improving the lives of staff and students, a proven ability to manage concurrent projects, while keeping our school vision at the forefront of all decision-making.

Rock Brook School is a non-profit New Jersey Approved Private School for Students with Disabilities. Primarily serving Communication Impaired and Multiply Disabled children from age 3 through age 21.  We currently have 56 students from 25 different school districts in central New Jersey.

Our Vision

All RBS students will attend a school where they are valued, challenged, and prepared for careers beyond the walls of 109 Orchard Rd. This is possible only with the right team in place, working together with parents to provide our students with all of the academic and social-emotional supports that are needed to succeed in school and in the greater community.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • NJDOE certification as a School Principal
  • MA or M.Ed from an accredited college or university
  • Experience as a teacher or therapist in a special education setting
  • Knowledgeable of state and federal special education laws
  • Valid New Jersey Administrator Certificate with Principal Endorsement
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful supervisory/administrative experience preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in Special Education
  • Evidence of leadership 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to connect with and successfully collaborate  faculty, staff, and parents
  • Establishing a positive school culture that engages students and staff to grow and excel
  • Working knowledge of Google Suite for Education

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Cultivate an environment that values staff development and a focus on student growth
    • In collaboration with the school’s leadership team, develop highly effective instructional practices for all staff
    • Analyze student data in order to design responsive student interventions
    • Directly coach teachers and instructional support staff to help them master the essentials of effective instruction
    • Observe lessons regularly and provide targeted feedback to teachers.
    • Collaborate with grade/subject teams to plan units, lessons and assessments; regularly share feedback
    • Model outstanding instruction for teachers
  • Facilitate excellent professional development
    • Work in concert with the Director of C & I to develop school goals and priorities
    • Help staff develop thoughtful, and actionable professional growth plans
    • Ensure teachers are using current data to drive instruction
  • Serve as an active member of the RBS Leadership Team
    • Participate in regular leadership team meetings
    • Lead staff training throughout the school year and on PD days
    • Assist teacher leaders in developing leadership skills
    • be a visible and highly-engaged leader in the school community
    • Lead and direct the school’s ESY program
