Description Primary Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Business Administrator, to administer the school district's payroll function, including developing reporting procedures and internal controls; implementing procedures and processes; ensuring the accuracy of payroll-related data and compliance with school district and regulatory agency requirements and guidelines.

Essential Functions
  • Oversee daily student transportation operations which include, but not limited to:
    • Establish all regular bus routes, including door to door pick-up and corner stops as appropriate for in district, out of district, Non-Public, Academies, Technical Schools and Charter Schools for the district school year, as well as ESY summer program
    • Coordinate student transportation for activities with school officials for field trips, athletics, and/or any specialized circumstances
    • Reponsible for maintaining all aspects of Aide in Lieu for Non-Public and Charter students using excel, creating purchase orders, and coordinating with the Accounting Department for payment
    • Maintain district drivers' vouchers for payroll department  
    • Responsible for maintaining and monitoring compliance with federal and state rules and regulations and Board Policies as they relate to transportation, including NJ State reporting (DRTRS), obtaining driver abstracts for district drivers, bus inspections, and bus evacuation drills
    • Effectively communicate with the Department of Special Education to provide reasonable, safe and prudent transportation services for students
    • Work with principals, South Bergen Jointure Commission, case managers, and parents regarding discipline or other issues
    • Organize creating the district school lunch application packet for opening day, using the NJ Food and Nutrition Electronic Services 
    • Accountable for the Verification Collection Report of error prone lunch applications to NJ SNEARS 
    • Coordinate with Special Education Department to complete the district's NJ Extraorinary Aide Report
    • Evaluate all elements of transportation program on a continuing basis, and perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Special Services/ Schools Officials and/or the Superintendent 
Additional Duties
Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the accounting system.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of federal and state wage and hour laws, and related regulations.
  • Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping principles.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, perform complex arithmetic operations and use calculators.
  • Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel).
  • Ability to problem-solve job-related issues.
  • Ability to process paperwork accurately according to standardized procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding school district financial and other information.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
