Description

Solution Prep is a high-quality College Admissions and SAT/ACT Prep service, working with students and families across Central Jersey, both at high schools and in our centers in Wall Twp, East Brunswick, Little Silver, and Toms River.

We're seeking a full-time, year-round Associate Director of College Counseling to join our admissions faculty. This is a salaried, 40-hours-per-week position.

This role is student-facing and writing-focused in the summer and fall, when the majority of time will be spent working directly with students on college essays and applications.

This is an educational program — part writing course, part admissions coaching, and part project management — not an editorial service. Our goal is to help our students become better writers through the project of creating the best application essays they’re capable of, in their own unique voices, to increase the likelihood of achieving their admissions goals.

Compensation:

  • Salaray: $54,000 to $60,000 annually
  • Medical and dental insurance plan
  • Matching 401(k) (fee-free, no vesting requirements)
  • Tuition reimbursement and professional development
  • Four weeks paid vacation annually

As application season winds down, work transitions to supporting our year-round college admissions programming through the winter and spring.

Responsibilities include:

Student coaching (primary focus: summer/fall)

  • Coaching students through brainstorming, outlining, drafting, and revising college application essays
  • Supporting students with strategy and execution across application platforms
  • Helping students manage their projects by building clear timelines to meet deadlines
  • Communicating with families by phone, email, and text to support progress

Admissions operations and program support (primary focus: winter/spring)

  • Supporting scheduling of high school students who work with our team year-round
  • Assisting with planning and logistics for group college visits, events, and workshops
  • Contributing to resource-building projects that improve our admission offerings
  • Performing detail-oriented documentation to keep student records and planning materials current

The ideal candidate:

  • Is an excellent writer and editor, able to encourage and coach students to stronger writing without overediting their voice
  • Is upbeat, time- and detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment
  • Communicates professionally with parents and students by phone, email, and text
  • Has strong organizational skills and a great memory for names, dates, and faces
  • Can travel regularly to work in all Solution Prep centers (Wall Twp, East Brunswick, Little Silver, and Toms River)
  • Is excited to grow in the college admissions field and take on a meaningful, long-term role

Relevant experience may include:

  • High school or college English/writing teacher
  • High school guidance counselor
  • Admissions representative at a selective college
  • Undergrad/grad studies & degree from a selective college/university
  • Work study in a selective college's admissions office
  • Work study in a college writing center/lab or tutoring center/lab
  • Experience supporting students with college applications, essay development, and/or storytelling
  • Relevant major or course study

To apply, submit a résumé AND cover letter. Applications without a cover letter will not be reviewed.
