Special Education Teacher

• The Deal School is looking for a creative, energetic, and motivated educator to join our teaching staff as a special education teacher. This is a full-time tenure track position. Teacher of Students with Disabilities or of the Handicapped certification is required.  Wilson Reading Certification highly preferred but not necessary. The ideal candidate will be passionate for the job and have the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in order to support district initiatives and to inspire students in their learning. 

Teacher Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
• Co-teach in the general education setting
• Facilitate a Resource Room if needed
• Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
• Collect, utilize, and progress monitor available data to develop student learning goals and individualize student learning.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing clear expectations and enforcing rules and procedures.
• Establish and maintain lines of communication with parents.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge and experience with Readers/Writers Workshop preferred, not required.
• Teacher of the Handicapped or Teacher of Students with Disabilities certification required.
• Wilson Reading Program certification highly preferred
• Familiar with the use of the Google Suite for Education programs preferred, not required.
• Knowledge of Big Ideas Math preferred but not required.
• Experience/knowledge of Responsive Classroom/Morning Meeting preferred.
• Experience with DIBELS.
