School Nurse - Summer Program July 2024
Job Duties:
The School Nurse - Summer Program July 2024 Per Diem will report to the Head of School/Principal/CEO and will complete but is not limited to the following duties:
Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinating a comprehensive student health program, helping students attain an optimum level of physical, social, and emotional health,
- Promoting workplace and school health safety,
- Providing health services to students, faculty, and staff,
- Assisting with teaching sound health practices,
- Helping students attain an optimum level of physical, social, and emotional health,
- Ensuring that all activities conform to New Jersey State laws, guidelines, and Administrative Code,
- Communicating effectively with all members of the school faculty, staff, administration, and community,
- Responding to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned,
- Appropriately operating all health equipment as required,
- Conducting health services and screening programs as required by law and/or Board of Trustee polices,
- Maintaining up-to-date documentation of health records on all students
- Caring for students who are injured or who become ill at school,
- Assisting in providing emergency care for accidents and sudden illness of pupils until parents assume responsibility,
- Notifying parents and building administrators regarding children who are severely ill or injured,
- Preparing school accident reports,
- Assisting in the prevention and control of communicable diseases
- Immediately reporting to the Principal any safety hazards or unsanitary conditions observed in the school environment,
- Obtaining advance approval of the Principal/Head of School for all activities and expenditures
- Adhering to all health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Blood-borne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan,
- Administering prescribed medication to students in accordance with law and Board policy and to provide training and supervision of the emergency administration of epinephrine for designated school staff,
- Providing special health care and related services to meet the needs of students with disabilities,
- Reporting any suspicion of child abuse to the Division of Child Protection and the Head of School/Principal/CEO,
- Providing for efficient, confidential, and durable means of documentation regarding student health conditions and nursing interventions and care, including computerized documentation,
- Supporting the philosophy and vision of The Laurel Education Group,
- Performing related duties as assigned.
