Description

The Business Administrator will play a key role in maintaining the highest level of fiscal business management and accountability of the Riverdale Public School District.

Date Needed: 12/15/21

Type of Position: 12 month employee

 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

Valid New Jersey School Business Administrator Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility

Understanding of the principles and practices of financial accounting and reporting procedures consistent with statute, code and GAAP requirements

Knowledge of accepted business practices in school districts related to budget preparation and administration, risk management, purchasing, transportation, food services, school plant operations and facility planning

Demonstrated organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Two years of experience as an Assistant School Business Administrator or School Business Administrator

Qualified Purchasing Agent Certification

New Jersey school district business experience

 

 

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Major responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

Management of the Business Office

Plan and prepare the annual budget as well as long-term planning in terms of community resources and needs

In cooperation with administrators and the Board of Education, help interpret the budget and other applicable major areas of Board operations

Grants applications/submissions/reimbursement

Evaluates operating procedures and makes strategic recommendations for payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, revenues/receivables, with a focus on efficient customer service and compliance with internal controls

Review and approve purchase orders, payrolls, fund transfers and other financial transactions requiring Business Office approval

Ensure Business Office work systems are efficient and functional

Coordinate and submit\ the preparation of state and federal financial reports required for payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, revenues/receivables, and more

Reconcile all cash and account balances

Review, gather documentation and prepare responses to Open Public Records Act (OPRA) requests

Review and revise the District’s current standard operating procedures (SOP) and budget/financial internal controls to safeguard the District’s assets

Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee

Additional Duties

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Superintendent.
