Anticipated Opening: Systems and Network Administrator/Engineer

 

Qualifications:     
 

  1. Minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a Network Administrator (or equivalent role) in enterprises similar in size and complexity to our district
  2. High school graduate with 4-year technical degree, bachelor’s degree or related field experience
  3. Certifications with CompTIA and/or Microsoft preferred Cisco. CCNA certification strongly preferred.
  4. Experience with designing and supporting Local and Wide Area Networks; Wi-Fi infrastructure (Aruba preferred); Mission Critical Enterprise Front and Back-End Systems and SAN systems.
  5. Experience as a Systems Administrator required; experience in Education environment preferred.
  6. Experience in managing the following is required: virtual server environments; Local Area Networks; Wide Area Networks; MS Azure and Active Directory Services; Apple School Manager; E-mail infrastructures (including related security); Cybersecurity (including firewall, intrusion detection/prevention, content filtering, threat detection/removal systems); Cisco VoIP phone system and Veritas backup.
  7. Citrix Xen Desktop Management and Experience with managing the Google Workspace platform are must
  8. Strong organizational skills, with an ability to:
    1. Make decisions in accordance with established policies/regulations.
    2. Understand and follow directions while working independently.
    3. Take technical lead of projects, while working in a team environment
  9. Motivated individual who demonstrates a high aptitude for technology, with a desire and ability to learn quickly.
  10. Outstanding communication skills
 
Preferred:
 
  1.  Previous experience as, or significant experience working with Dell EMC, Compellent, Clarion SANs and load balancing.
  2. Experience working with Dell Blade Chassis and Aruba Wi-Fi APs and controller.
  3. Experience with provisioning and supporting Cisco and Dell switches; Cisco routers; Wide Area Networks; and CheckPoint firewall (intrusion detection/prevention, content filtering, threat detection/removal systems, VPN, NAT)
  4. Experience with networking protocols and advanced networking concepts (i.e. knowledge of core routing and switching and VLANs)
 
Reports to:                Supervisor of Technology
 
Primary Function:    The Systems and Network Administrator will primarily provide support for all storage, servers and network infrastructure.  Following the direction of the Supervisor of Technology, the Systems and Network Administrator will assist with implementation of all infrastructure projects.
  
Responsibilities:
 
  1. Administer all systems and network services throughout the district, assuring 24/7 availability of primary systems and networks, Internet connectivity and outage handling.
  2. Serve as technical lead to Supervisor of Technology for the deployment, management, inventory control and support of district hardware.
  3. Under the guidance of the Supervisor of Technology:
    1. Assist with design and implementation of all LAN and WAN approved infrastructure projects.
    2. Provide recommendations and direction regarding management of the district’s data center hardware and infrastructure.
    3. Maintain and upgrade both hardware and software as needed on all network servers and infrastructure.
    4. Install, maintain, and mapping of all security systems (cameras, door access, alarms and badge access software and hardware)
  4. Administer and support the Cisco VoIP phone system, including integration with providers (Verizon, Comcast), SRST gateways and location services.
  5. Working with the Supervisor of Technology:
    1. Issue and manage user accounts - students, teachers and staff -, groups and distribution lists
    2. Maintain the District Cybersecurity platforms
    3. Applications support and deployment to Windows, Chromebook and Mac devices
    4. Assist with budget development
  6. Administer and support the clocks; bells; Valcom and CareHawk paging systems; lockdown devices; video surveillance system.
  7. Research, analyze and troubleshoot server and/or data network problems.
  8. Maintains and monitors and assures redundancy of power control and distribution systems and UPSs.
  9. Implement and maintain backup and recovery procedures for district-wide systems infrastructure.
  10. Administer and support the door access control systems working with Facilities where necessary to integrate and test strobes, signs, etc.
  11. Regularly attend and participate in technology team meetings to assure efficient operation of technology within the district.
  12. Through appropriate professional development, keep abreast of new technologies that may be used for educational and staff use in the district.
  13. Serve as backfill and/or support for IT Support Specialists when requested by the Supervisor of Technology
  14. Adjusts schedule as needed to accommodate district needs and facilitation of repairs to ensure minimal interruption of network service to users.
  15. Perform other duties as may be required due to emergency situations or upon direction of the Supervisor of Technology.
