Instructs students through lessons that are aligned with student goals and objectives and NJ Student Learning Standards and/or DLM Essential Elements in the classroom and through community-based instruction
Implements students’ IEPs
Collaborates with Paraprofessionals to ensure that all students are learning based on their needs as outlined in their IEPs
Collaborates with Related Service Providers, Job Developers, and the SLE/Work Based Learning coordinators who work with your students to ensure shared goals are being implemented within the classroom and in the community
Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
Selects and requisitions appropriate books, aids, and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research, and by maintaining professional relationships with members of institutions of higher learning and the business community.
Conducts classroom assessments and collects data to drive differentiated instruction and to serve as evidence for IEP goal progress rating determinations.
Participates in IEP meetings and contributes to IEP development
Collaborates with School Administrators, Case Managers, School Nurse, and families for the benefit of students.
Administers the state testing as determined by the students’ IEPs.
Coordinates with outside agencies, organizations, and institutions, including state and federal authorities as needed.
Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and providing student information to prospective colleges and employers, as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
