Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to assist students in academic, career, and personal/social development
Create and implement innovative counseling programs and intervention that address the needs of diverse student populations
Collaborate with teachers and administrators to develop and implement initiatives that promote student achievement and well-being
Provide crisis intervention services as needed
Participate in professional development activities to enhance counseling skills and stay current with best practices and trends in the field
Broad knowledge of testing and evaluation, theories of individual and group counseling techniques, secondary school counseling program design
Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with students, parents, staff and community groups and organizations
Knowledge of college and career planning preferred
Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and providing student information to prospective colleges and employers, as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
Encourages parental involvement in students' education
Assists students in making course and subject selections, as well as with evaluating career interests and choices.
Assists in the scheduling of classes.
Obtains and disseminates information regarding occupational opportunities to students and to classes studying occupations.
Assists students with admissions, scholarship and identifying employment opportunities.
