Spring Musical Overall Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
The High School Spring Musical Director provides visionary artistic leadership for the school’s annual musical production, with a commitment to excellence, innovation, and elevating the program to the highest standard of performance.
This role is responsible for the full scope of production, including auditions and casting, and directing all aspects of the performance. The director will design and lead a rigorous and purposeful rehearsal process, developing students’ skills in acting, storytelling, and stage presence while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and artistic growth.
In partnership with the FVPPA Supervisor, the director will identify, recommend, and collaborate with a high-quality production team, including, but not limited to, a music director, a choreographer, and technical staff. The director will ensure alignment across all creative and technical elements to produce a cohesive and high-caliber performance.
The director will maintain clear communication with students, families, and school personnel, manage rehearsal schedules and production timelines, and ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Appropriate New Jersey Certification required: Substitute Certification, or other certificate alternatives as the Board may find acceptable.
- Ability to maintain a positive working environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven ability to produce high-quality theatrical experiences
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Passion for student-centered arts education
- Committed to continuous program growth and to creating meaningful performance opportunities
- Compliance with the NJ FIRST Act
- Successful Criminal History Clearance
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship or appropriate employment authorization
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT & COMPENSATION
In accordance with the provisions of the BOE/FTEA collective bargaining agreement, this role is budgeted for a stipend of $5,135.76.
This is a temporary, seasonal assignment with a fixed stipend for the contracted period. This position does not include year-round employment, benefits, or guaranteed continued assignment beyond the designated contracted period. Stipend and benefits as determined by the Board of Education and any applicable and collective negotiations agreement.
