ENGLISH/SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER
Hatikvah International Charter School is a public, secular K-8 program with an enrollment of 500 students (growing to 525 in September 2019) whose studies include partial immersion in Modern Hebrew language. The school is seeking a middle school dual-certified social studies and English teacher for 2019-2020 school year. Candidates need to have excellent oral and written communication skills; a sound knowledge of how to use data to drive instruction; strong skills in differentiation; and inquiry based approaches to learning. The candidate must have experience in collaborative planning and working successfully with a team of teachers. The job requires a "Can-do" attitude. Candidates with MYP experience will be given preference, but all candidates need to be willing to engage in professional development with the International Baccalaureate Program. If the candidate has one of the two required certifications, the school will assist the successful candidate in obtaining the other one.
Certification: K-12 social studies and K-12 English or one of these certifications and willingness to obtain the other.
Classroom teacher responsible for designing rigorous, inquiry-based, common core aligned MYP-IB instruction; parent communication; collaborative planning; formative and summative assessment aligned to standards; ability to differentiate instruction for learners; strong behavior management skills; and strong organizational skills.
