Description

The Capstone Center (www.thecapstonecenter.com) is currently seeking behavioral skills technicians to provide services in the Wayne, NJ area. The behavior technician will provide 1:1 services to children with autism spectrum disorder. Services will be delivered in our center in Wayne, NJ. We will provide on-site supervision and training. We are looking for energetic individuals who are available on a full time basis.

Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • 1:1 services to children, adolescents and adults with autism spectrum disorder using the principles of behavior 
  • Accompany learners in community outings (e.g., diner, supermarket)
  • Provide in-home services, if necessary
  • Assist in organization, maintenance, and cleaning of physical space, as needed
  • Prepare materials for learner programs
  • Graph data daily using Microsoft Excel or other
  • Collect data daily using Catalyst, paper and pencil, or other
  • Participation in all staff training days
  • Participate in Telehealth sessions when applicable
  • Uphold confidentiality and abuse and molestation policies
  • Receive positive and corrective feedback in a professional manner
  • Follow all The Capstone Center protocols and policies

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in psychology, special education, or related field
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license to travel to work at our center or home/off-site locations
  • Must be available to work 37.5 hours per week, which may include nights and weekends
  • Must be available to work from 8:15 am–4:45 pm, Monday through Friday
  • Work location can be the The Capstone Center, learner’s home, an off-site location, or a combination of any of these locations
  • Regular and timely communication with supervisors while employed with The Capstone Center
  • Physical & emotional considerations: 
    • Can lift at least 50 lbs
    • Can stand and ambulate for prolonged periods
    • Agility to block and manage problem behavior
    • Can kneel or squat for prolonged periods
    • Maintain mental and emotional health
  • Pass a state and federal background check
  • Proof of a negative TB test within the past year
  • Work in a school and home setting with children with special needs
  • Obtain (if applicable) and maintain RBT certification with no lapse in your credentials
