Job Title:
Transportation Assistant
Reports to:
Transportation Supervisor, Supervisor of Accounting, and Business Administrator.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No supervisory responsibilities.
Term of Employment:
12 months (July 1 - June 30)
Salary:
Salary determined by the GEHR Board of Education and commensurate with experience.
Job Goal:
The Transportation Assistant facilitates safe and efficient transportation services for students, ensuring timely commute to and from school activities while adhering to safety protocols and contractual obligations. In addition he/she will assist the supervisor of accounting with administrative support, including but not limited to the billing/receivables of transportation fees.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
License/Certification:
- Successful completion of required criminal history review background check and sexual misconduct/child abuse disclosure process
- Proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status
Experience:
Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with school personnel, contractors, and district administrators.
Ability to resolve issues related to transportation services effectively.
Experience with route management, scheduling, and contractor oversight preferred.
Experience in data management and reporting is preferred.
Adaptability and problem-solving skills to address unexpected issues and changes in transportation needs.
Responsibilities:
Route Development and Management:
- Develops transportation routes for all public high school students, ensuring efficient and timely transportation.
- Maintains an updated list of all students for whom the district is responsible to facilitate route planning and student tracking.

Personnel Coordination:
Works with the Transportation Supervisor, Special Education Department, and School Administration to ensure adequate coverage for required aides and nurses, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
