Description Title: Athletic Trainer 
Leave of Absence August - December 2024

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved college athletic training program.
  • Athletic training certificate from the appropriate New Jersey State Agency.
  • Bachelor of Arts Degree


Reports To: Athletic Director

Job Goal: To provide for the prevention, care and reconditioning of athletes injured participating in the interscholastic athletic program.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Be in attendance at all of the following:

1.  Scheduled practices.

2.  Physical examinations.

3.  Home interscholastic contests.

4.  Away varsity football games.

  • Administer first aid to injured students involved in all interscholastic athletic programs.

  • Apply protective or injury-prevention devices, such as adhesive strapping, taping, bandaging, padding, and braces.

  • Work cooperatively with the team physician and under his/her direction regarding:

1.  Reconditioning injured athletes.

2.  Physician and/or hospital referrals.

  • Record all injuries and treatments and maintain a file of same.

  • Handle all interscholastic medical insurance claims.

  • Supply fully equipped first aid kits for each team.

  • Work cooperatively with all coaches in selecting protective equipment.

  • Supervise and maintain the training room.

  • Prepare an annual budget for supplies and equipment.

  • Maintain an inventory of all first aid supplies.

  • Supervise student assistants.

  • Counsel and advise athletes and coaches on conditioning and training techniques.

  • Assist the Athletic Director in scheduling all physical examinations.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of eligibility lists.

  • Report all serious injuries to the Principal, School Nurse, Coach and Athletic Director.

  • Report all injuries on a daily basis to the School Nurse.

  • Provide in-service training program for interested staff members.

  • Implements the flexible schedule required to be available for treatment of athletes in both practices and events.  The Athletic Director will establish the hours for each season.

  • Other duties as may be assigned by the Athletic Director.

 

Terms of Employment: Annual stipend as negotiated with the Manchetser Teachers Association.

 

Evaluation: Performance of this job shall be evaluated annually by the Athletic Director.  The evaluation shall be in accordance with the Baord of Education’s policies and procedures.
