ANTICIPATED: ESL Teacher

Manville High School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated educator to fill the role of High School ESL Teacher. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting students for whom English is a second language and who can provide engaging instruction tailored to meet their unique needs. The ideal candidate will create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment while equipping students with the language skills necessary for academic success and social integration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement effective ESL curriculum and instructional strategies for high school students (grades 9-12).

• Differentiate instruction to accommodate varying proficiency levels and learning styles.

• Foster a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and collaboration among ESL students.

• Utilize culturally relevant materials and resources to enhance language acquisition and cultural understanding.

• Collaborate with content area teachers to support ESL students in accessing grade-level content.

• Monitor and assess student progress regularly, providing timely feedback to students and their families.

• Maintain open communication with ESL students' families to support their academic and socioemotional needs.

• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in ESL instruction and language acquisition.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, TESOL, Linguistics, or related field (Master's degree preferred).

• Valid teaching certification/license with ESL endorsement or specialization.

• Experience working with diverse populations, particularly English language learners.

• Demonstrated understanding of second language acquisition theories and best practices in ESL instruction.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and families from diverse cultural backgrounds.

• Ability to adapt instruction to meet the individual needs of ESL students.

• Knowledge of language proficiency assessments and data-driven instructional practices.

• Proficiency in a second language is highly desired but not required.

• Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development in the field of ESL education.
