REPORTS TO:  School Business Administrator

JOB GOAL: To assist with the smooth and efficient operation of the Business Office so that the district’s maximum positive impact on the education of the children can be realized.  To provide financial and administrative support to the Business Administrator by assisting with all aspects of the business affairs of the district, including accounting, purchasing, grant management, budget preparation, board meetings, school board elections, fixed asset management, transportation and other duties as needed.



  • Hold a valid state certificate as a School Business Administrator, or be enrolled in an approved program working towards the same, with a letter of eligibility.

  • Bachelor’s degree, and demonstrated experience in accounting, computation, and communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in public school business operations or public accounting.

  • Knowledge of office practices, procedures and the operation of all office equipment and machines.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in secretarial skills, typing with computer operation, word processing, and spreadsheets.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public.

  • Interest, desire, and aptitude for the work to be performed.

  • Current residency in New Jersey, approved residency waiver, or candidate agrees to obtain in-State residency within one (1) year of employment.

  • Such alternatives and/or additions to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
