Description The North Plainfield School District, a culturally diverse school district in Somerset County serving 3,700 students Pre-K through grade 12, seeks a dynamic, enthusiastic and innovative professional for the position of Assistant to the Athletic Director/Health and Physical Education. 

This is a 10 Month position + Summer per Diem.

Qualifications and Responsibilites Include:

  • New Jersey Teacher Certification
  • Teaching and coaching experience required.
  • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment and high standard of conduct by all participants in athletics and activities
  • Strong Health & Physical Education background
  • Works with the Supervisor of Health & Physical Education, subject matter specialists and teachers in developing the total school curriculum, and assists in the formulation of a philosophy and objectives for the instructional plan.
  • Assists in studying, evaluating, and, as appropriate, recommending to the Supervisor of Health & Physical Education the adoption of new Health/PE instructional materials, methods and programs.
  • Assists in the development of the K-12 Health/PE instructional program and achievement of state core curriculum content standards and district goals and objectives.
  • Be the lead on all middle school athletics, including, but not limited to, creating schedules, organizing site supervision, securing busing and officials, developing and implementing all budgetary needs, clearing athletes, and supervising coaches.
  • Assists in master scheduling and rescheduling, reports all discrepancies and confirms athletic schedule daily & weekly.
  • Arranges for transportation to all games and competitions.
  • Verify weekly athletic schedules, transportation schedules, and official assignments; reschedule postponed contests.
  • Assists Athletic Director in ensuring the medical clearance of all student-athletes prior to participation.
  • Assists the Athletic Director in ensuring that all athletes meet eligibility and medical and parental permission requirements prior to the beginning of the respective athletic seasons.
  • Assist with budgeting and requisition processing for athletic equipment and supplies, with the assistance of the head coaches; maintain accurate budget records.
