Description SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

NON-REPRESENTED POSITION- 12-month position


START DATE:
7/1/2023

SALARY:

$75,000

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and data backup/recovery
  • Knowledge of IEEE wiring standards, network topologies, and the current Microsoft operating systems for both servers and end users.
  • Knowledge of email security in an Office 365 Environment
  • Knowledge of content filtering for both students and staff
  • Demonstrated ability to, set up, configure, program, and troubleshoot routers, switches, hubs, and NICs.
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude with the ability to multitask
  • A+, Network+ and CCENT certification preferred
  • Associate or higher degree in related field preferred
  • Background in a K-12 school district a plus
  • Demonstrated ability in handling confidential matters in an ethical manner
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate well with staff and students
  • Ability to lift over 25 lbs.
  • Valid current driver’s license and car for transportation
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Develops a cybersecurity system to protect data files, email, and sensitive areas of the district’s database, including management of multi-factor authentication, MDR/EDR and email security.
  2. Manages and programs/codes Active Directory syncing with other systems, including LDAP, GADS and SIF
  3. Manages Help Desk/Asset Management/Software Deployment.
  4. Monitors utilization of computer systems and respond proactively to need for additional systems.
  5. Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical district systems.
  6. Develops procedures, programs and documentation for backup and restoration of mission critical district systems.
  7. Conducts annual needs assessment relative to administrative and network software and hardware and recommend budget items to meet new needs.
  8. Provides backup and support to the Network Administrator in the maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting of the district network.
  9. Provides backup and support to the Network Administrator in content filtering for both students and staff.
  10. Provides backup and support to the Server/SIS Technician in the management of district servers, both physical and virtual.
  11. Helps maintain, install, inventory and track warranty status of all network servers, as well as assisting in the planning for systematic replacement of older network appliances.
  12. Remains current regarding new technological innovations.
  13. Supervises, evaluates, and trains building technicians in relation to network security and computer management.
  14. Successfully acquires and maintains professional certifications as deemed appropriate by immediate supervisor.
  15. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Informational Technology Supervisor, Superintendent or designee.
