About Us:

Elysian Charter School of Hoboken, New Jersey, is an innovative K–8, public charter school.  We recently celebrated our 27th year of service to the Hoboken community - serving as one of the nine inaugural public charters statewide when the charter law was first enacted. 

At Elysian, our small class size of 16 per class, allows us to focus on the whole child. Our goal is to educate and inspire children to become curious, lifelong learners, strong in academic preparation, who have an appreciation of the arts, the diversity of all the peoples of the world, and the importance of community. Position Summary:

We are seeking a full-time middle school math teacher starting with the 2024-2025 school year. This is an exciting opportunity for an educator who is passionate about improving student outcomes by leading excellent instruction and building a positive and diverse school culture.

Start Date:  September 1, 2024

Responsibilities:

  • Create and foster a culture where all students can thrive and grow
  • Ability to develop and implement hands-on interactive lesson plans
  • Ability to positively collaborate with all stakeholders and confer with other teachers concerning cross-curricular opportunities
  • Plan for class activities, including preparing units and daily lesson plans, identifying materials to implement class activities, preparing class projects, giving students feedback on completed work to insure mastery of presented material, and grading of tests and assignments in a timely manner
  • Provide students with regular feedback to ensure mastery of presented material, and grading of tests and assignments in a timely manner
  • Analyze assessment data to inform instruction 
  • Actively participate in all meetings, collaborative planning and professional development, including regular school events
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills to build meaningful relationships with students and the broader community
  • Qualifications:
  • Certifications Required:  Eligible for NJ - CE, CEAS or Standard License for Middle School 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the subject matter and familiarity with the NJCCCS
  • Required criminal history background check and proof of US citizenship or legal resident status
  • Prior teaching experience with middle school math with a record of improving student achievement preferred
  • A desire to make a difference in the lives of students, families and the community
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences - colleagues, students and families 
  • A commitment to working with diverse populations of families and students
  • Experience with differentiated instruction
