The Department of Children and Families, Office of Education has an immediate need for a Teacher at the Union Campus, located in Scotch Plains, NJ.
Under the direction of the Supervisor of Educational Programs or Assistant Supervisor of Educational Programs, the Teacher executes the lessons and educational experiences of the assigned pupils, class or classes. Performs these duties exercising independent judgement and with a comprehensive knowledge of department rules, regulations and policies; at some departments/agencies, may function as a short-term substitute for a Teacher 3 and 2; does other related duties as required.
Please note that schools within OOE have a 12-month school year.
SPECIAL NOTE: The selected candidate for this position will function as the Lead Teacher for our infant and toddler nurseries.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Possession of a valid Standard Certificate issued by the State Board of Examiners of the New Jersey Department of Education with an endorsement in subject area(s) determined appropriate by the Appointing Authority.
NOTE: In departments/agencies in which the position functions as a short-term substitute for a Teacher, 3 or 2, or as determined appropriate by the Appointing Authority, a current valid New Jersey Substitute Teacher's Certificate issued by any county educational office, or a current valid Certificate of Eligibility or Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing in any area, issued by the State Board of Examiners of the New Jersey Department of Education may be substituted for the above certificate.
SPECIAL NOTE: Possession of a valid NJ standard certificate, Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing or Certificate of Eligibility in any subject area OR a valid Substitute Teacher certificate issued by any New Jersey County Office of Education may be substituted for the valid standard certificate.
SPECIAL NOTE: Ability to physically lift, move, and position students as needed.

LICENSE: Appointees will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

STARTING SALARY: $50,229.66 - $57,079.98 commensurate with certificate and experience.
