Direct Care Professional

Full-Time: Monday - Friday - 8am-4pm

Job Responsibilties:
  • Assist with and participate in all daily activities of the ESCNJ Post-21 Day Program, and other activities as assigned as necessary;
  • Know the whereabouts of all ESCNJ Post-21 Program clients at all times;
  • Instruct and assist ESCNJ Post-21 Program clients in emergency procedures such as fire drills, lockdown drills, etc.;
  • Follow any emergency procedures in place;
  • Monitor safety and all procedures as they pertain to the complete supervision of all ESCNJ Post-21 Program clients and staff;
  • Help provide an atmosphere for developing good morale and well-being among the ESCNJ Post-21 Program clients;
  • Report any accidents or incidents to the ESCNJ Post-21 Program Direct Care Manager/Supervisor and ESCNJ Post-21 Program Executive Director immediately, and fill out an accident/incident/EIR form if necessary;
  • Attend all ESCNJ Post-21 Staff meetings and training sessions, both on-and off-site.
Essential Functions:
  • Ability to communicate and work with the ESCNJ Post-21 Program Direct Care Manager/Supervisor, the ESCNJ Post-21 Program staff and ESCNJ Post-21 Program clients from age 21 and above;
  • Ability to observe ESCNJ Post-21 Program client's behavior, asess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety
  • Follow regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior and management techniques;
  • Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to activities;
  • Cognitive and communication abilities to plan and conduct activities to achieve maximum participant skill development;
  • Physical ability and strength to physically control a participant from harming temselves and/or others;
  • Assist ESCNJ Post-21 Program clients when necessary with toileting, and/or ADL needs, as deemed necessary;
  • Be familiar and in compliance with all information in the NJ DDD Standards for Adult Day Programs and the ESCNJ Post-21 Program Employee Handbook;
  • Be accountable for all equipment and us it in a responsible manner;
  • Maintain required documentation in our Electronic Health Record system;
  • Keep up to date with DDD Mandated Trainings, ESCNJ Post-21 Program Trainings and all other trainings deemed necessary to the support of the Program clients;
  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
