DISTRICT BILINGUAL COMMUNITY PARENT INVOLVEMENT SPECIALIST

 
NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:
The District Bilingual Community and Parent Involvement Specialist is responsible for coordinating services for children and families in compliance with standards set by the school district.  A primary responsibility of the District Bilingual Community and Parent Involvement Specialist is to connect the parents and the community with district programs.
 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social work, or a related field such as sociology, psychology, or education
  • Master’s in Social Work preferred
  • Experience in childcare, social service setting, and/or special needs population
  • Valid driver’s license with no serious violations
  • Bilingual (Spanish preferred)
 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate services for children and families in compliance with standards set by the school district
  • Coordinate systematic parent involvement plans and activities
  • Promote parent/family involvement, including language minority families 
  • Connect families and the community with district programs
  • Evaluate the needs of families
  • Have knowledge of community resources and be able to help families make linkages to social services
  • Coordinate work with other community agencies and social service personnel
  • Collaborate with district staff to achieve joint job functions and responsibilities
  • Conduct regular meetings with families and stakeholders
  • Coordinate the Early Childhood Advisory Council
  • Provide and maintain a resource room for families and manage a resource center that provides training, information, and support to families
  • Attend scheduled training required for position
  • Maintain organized records
  • Provide district wide assistance to families with communication (i.e. translations, interpretations)
  • Monitor statewide educational trends to determine critical services needed for families new to city/country
  • At direction of supervisor, assist with securing donations for Early Childhood specific events (i.e. Christmas toy distribution)

TERMS:
  • 12-month position
  • Will travel between all district locations daily
  • Salary and benefits per the Negotiated Agreement
  • Reports to Director of C&I and Supervisor of C&I
