Saint Joseph High School, owned and operated by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, is a private, Catholic all-boys college preparatory school looking for a talented individual to take on the role of full-time Computer Science Teacher.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building a disciplined classroom culture in which students enjoy learning computer science, think critically about course material, and assume ownership over their own learning
  • Use a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments to ensure that students are engaged
  • Work directly with school leaders and other school personnel in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the computer curriculum
  • Developing strong relationships with parents and students, creating investment in school culture and academics
  • Teacher's schedule would consist of the following (half-year) courses in both semesters for the 2022-2023 school year: Exploring Computer Science, Digital Media, Mobile Apps Design, and Computer Animation. Course assignments may vary moving forward among the other Computer Science courses offered within the department.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in the field of Technology or Computer Science 
  • New Jersey State Teaching Certification, preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of digital citizenship, hardware/software components, and computer programming (Java and Python preferred)
  • Minimum of one year experience teaching AP Computer Science A or AP Computer Science Principles, preferred
  • Google Classroom certification or experience to assist students and faculty in execution of the programs
  • Experience teaching high school students, preferred
