Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The LDTC at College Achieve Central, a part of the CAPS network, provides comprehensive educational evaluation services as a member of the Child Study Team. The LDTC is responsible for the identification, diagnosis, (re)evaluation of students in need of special services and the delivery of quality academic services and programs. The LDTC is a consultant to staff members, assisting the instructional staff in an understanding of the needs of students with disabilities and recommending and demonstrating techniques, strategies, and materials so that virtually every student meets or exceeds the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives direct or general supervision from the assigned Administrator. Exercises general and direct supervision over assigned staff.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Illustrative Only)
Assesses academic proficiency and learning characteristics of each student referred to the child study team for evaluation and interprets the findings in written reports and informal conferences
Interview students, parents, teachers, and/or appropriate staff members.
Observation of students.
Fulfill the required duties of an LDTC as a basic member of the Child Study Team including case management.
Assist the Child Study Team in determining special education eligibility.
Make recommendations based on findings.
Assist in determining appropriate educational goals - long and short term.
Confer with the appropriate teacher(s) to jointly write an I.E.P. appropriate to the student's needs.
Meet with the student's parent(s) to discuss and familiarize them with the Child Study Team findings.
Explain placement procedures and rationale behind I.E.P. to the parent(s) or parental designate obtaining their written consent.
Review and implement procedures for the referral of students with perceived special educational needs.
Serve as a referral consultant for instructional needs when requested by the building principal.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
  • Special education programming and experience working with students with exceptional needs.
  • NJ special education regulations and compliance policies/procedures
  • Instructional strategies for students with disabilities
Ability to:
  • Commit to College Achieve Central’s core values and practices
  • Communicate verbally and in writing with diverse audiences including teachers, administrators, parents and students
  • Manage assessment data
  • Receive feedback and willingness to tajke responsibility for student success
  • Comport oneself in a professional manner appropriate for a school environment
  • Demonstrate and attention to detail
  • Be flexible
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Graduate from a Teaching program
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Hold a valid New Jersey LDTC license with DOE certification desirable 
LICENSES:
  • Current valid New Jersey Driver’s License
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Interact with a wide variety of individuals
  • Working hours may include nights and weekends as needed to support student-focused events.
  • Lift and carry up to 40 lbs. Indoors and outdoors work.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, leaning, or sitting.
  • Travel between buildings on campus, to centers, and off-campus locations.
  • Exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Computer work.
  • Frequent moves from one work area to another
Salary: 65K- 85K *signing bonus available*
