Job Title: Director – Child Care Center

 

Location: All Day Learning Centers – Hillsborough

 

Overview: We are seeking a passionate and experienced individual to serve as the Daycare Director. The Director is a leadership position and she/he will be responsible for providing a strategic vision, overseeing all aspects of the daycare’s operations, ensuring the well-being, safety and development of the children in our care. She/He would also be  managing staff, maintaining compliance with regulations and fostering a positive and nurturing environment.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership, Child Development and Management:

  • Provide strategic leadership to the Center, and ensure that the program aligns with best practices in early childhood education. The Center must meet the needs of individual children,

 

  • Ensure that curriculum and activities are designed and followed in a way that promotes children’s social, emotional, physical, cognitive and language skills.

 

  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.

 

  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate the staff, providing them the support needed to flourish. At the same time also ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

 

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure smooth running of the Center.

 

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the program, adjusting as necessary to meet the changing needs of children and their families.     
  • Staff Management:
  • Hire, train, and supervise staff, including teachers and support personnel.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Conduct regular class observations and help the teachers to develop and grow.

   

Operational Administration:

  • Manage the daycare budget, ensuring resources are properly allocated.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of the children, staff, and operational expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant licensing, health, safety, and accreditation standards.

 

Safety and Compliance:

 

  • Ensure the center meets all local health and safety regulations.
  • Handle any incidents or emergencies with priority on child safety.

 

Communication:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians, addressing concerns and providing updates on their children’s progress. Be there either during drop off or pick up to meet with parents.
  • Foster a supportive and communicative environment among staff and parents.

Facility Management:

  • Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the facility.
  • Ensure the learning and play environments are safe and welcoming.
  • Ensure classroom environments are maintained in a way that they promote learning and play.

Key Requirements:

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Understanding of various educational philosophies.

 

Experience

 

  • Previous experience in a childcare setting, with several years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of Creative Curriculum and getting accreditation (preferred)

 

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and personnel management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving, multitasking, and decision-making.
  • Warm, nurturing and someone who loves being around children.
  • Passion for early childhood education.
  • Ability to inspire trust and respect from staff and parents.

 

Certifications:

 

  • CPR and First Aid certification; may also require state-specific certifications (or have the willingness to obtain one)

 

This role is crucial for the effective operation of a daycare center, requiring a blend of educational expertise, management skills, and a strong commitment to child rights.
