ESL (English as a Second Language) -Long Term Substitute

Teacher of ESL (Grades K-12) – District (Long Term Sub)

• Replacement for teachers on a leave of absence
• Length of positions may vary

Requirements:

• Valid NJ Instructional Certificate (Teacher of ESL)
• Knowledge/experience with WIDA Standards and NJ Student Learning Standards for ELA
• Knowledge/experience with ACCESS Testing
• Bilingual (a plus)
• Knowledge of Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching (a plus)
• Ability to apply and turnkey Can Do Descriptors
• Knowledge of best practices in working with ELLs (ie: Sheltered English Instruction)
• Understanding of the needs of Newcomers
• Knowledge of Google Apps for Education
• Willingness to work collaboratively with fellow department members (as well as other instructional staff)
• Demonstrates detail in required paperwork, documentation, etc.
• Successful clearance of criminal history
• All Substitutes must be BOE approved

Effective: 2023-2024 School Year

Salary:

• Days 1-20 - Daily sub rate
• Days 21 plus - $308.00 per day
• (salary equals BA Step 1- $57,094/year prorated)
