The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of Supervisor, Health Services within the Office of Health Services.
Under direction, plans, organizes and supervises the delivery of school nursing services in the district; In collaboration with the Executive Director, performs related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  1. Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university (preferred).
  2. New Jersey State License as a Registered Nurse.
  3. New Jersey Permanent School Nurse Certification.
  4. New Jersey Permanent Supervisor Certification.
  5. Minimum five (5) years successful experience as a school nurse.
  6. Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of school health and pediatric nursing.
  7. Extensive knowledge of public and pupil health laws, rules and regulations.
  8. Extensive knowledge of the techniques and principles of nursing supervision and health program management.
  9. Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position.
  10. Ability to organize and supervise a district wide program of school nursing services.
  11. Ability to organize assigned work and develop effective work methods.
  12. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, administrative and staff personnel, state and municipal agencies; and community-based agencies.
  13. Ability to interpret and apply federal and state laws, rules, regulations, district policy and administrative regulations related to health education and nursing services.
  14. Ability to prepare clear, concise, and informative reports and correspondence containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  15. Three (3) letters of reference, which should include one (1) from current principal or supervisor.
  16. Appointee will be required to possess a valid driver’s license and means of transportation to school sites if necessary.

BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Plans, organizes and supervises the delivery of nursing services to students of the district.
  2. Collects, reviews and analyzes statistical and other types of data for inclusion in reports and correspondence.
  3. Prepares clear, concise and informative reports containing findings, conclusions and recommendations.
  4. Acts as liaison to central office departments and divisions as related to the nursing program.
  5. Assists school administrative staff in the observation and evaluation of certified school nurses.
  6. Plans, organizes and conducts monthly staff meetings for professional development and provides information and materials regarding school health education and nursing services.
  7. Plans and coordinates implementation of all required school health programs.
  8. Plans and organizes training and professional development opportunities for certified school nursing staff.
  9. Reviews and analyzes federal, state and municipal rules regulations and mandates related to public and school health.
  10. Plan and coordinates activities with medical staff to ensure examination of pupils at designated intervals.
  11. Supervises the preparations and retention of student health records.
  12. Plans and supervises district compliance with federal, state and municipal health regulations.
  13. Performs related duties as required.

SALARY RANGE, EMPLOYMENT PERIOD AND UNION AFFILIATION

Salary Range: $103,630 - $138,280

Employment Period: Twelve (12) months

Union Affiliation: CASA (City Association of Supervisors and Administrators)
