JOB GOAL:
To supervise the district’s mathematics improvement programs, and to assist school staff in improving student achievement. Is responsible for the development and implementation of all new mathematics curricula and programs, school-wide.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Standard New Jersey Mathematics Teacher certificate
- Possess a New Jersey Standard Supervisor Certificate
- Minimum of five (5) years successful experience in the field of public education, including teaching mathematics
- Demonstrated knowledge of mathematics content standards and curricula (particularly the constructivist approach), effective instructional techniques, staff development, systemic change, performance-based assessment, use of technology in instruction, needs assessment, program evaluation, and specifications of state tests
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and research skills
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitates school-level and classroom-level changes in mathematics teaching and learning.
- Facilitates school-level and classroom-level changes in mathematics teaching and learning.
- Develops and coordinates school-wide programs in the areas of mathematics.
- Assists school in supporting student achievement.
- Works collaboratively with other staff in C&I and in the school to foster educational research and practice, and in the entire school to foster systemic reform, to address problems of teaching and learning, and to implement the school’s Equity Plan.
- Prepares analytic reports and staff development materials on curriculum and instruction, using data for program improvement, performance and authentic assessment and current educational research and practice as relates to school/district AYP.
- Ensures the continuing articulation of the mathematics curriculum school-wide, kindergarten through grade 5.
- Collaborates with Curriculum & Instruction Director to establish and maintain consistent relationships between the curricula; articulates cross-curricula methods and strategies and provides training, as needed, to improve provided instruction.
- Researches and implements ‘best practices’ and uses ‘exemplars’ directing staff and administration towards improved mathematics instruction and learning.
- Collaborates with and coordinates regularly scheduled school meetings of math teachers.
- Leads curriculum committees in mathematics to develop curricula, to assist in implementation, and to design appropriate content standards-based assessments, including performance based assessments.
- Assumes responsibility to review district expenditures; ordering, inventorying, and distribution of all materials for district mathematics programs, as needed.
- Assists in obtaining grants and partnerships to enhance instruction for improved student achievement.
- Identifies technology appropriate to developmental needs and district resources; requires staff to infuse current technology into mathematics instruction.
- Supports and uses technology, as appropriate, for programs development, monitoring, and production of reports.
- Assists in the recruitment and training of personnel.
- Participates in informal and formal assessment and evaluation for personnel, as assigned.
- Implements an on-going review of reports and documentation required by federal, state, and district regulations; disseminates and incorporates changes, as required.
- Keeps informed of educational innovations and trends in the area of mathematics instruction and curriculum development.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned, within the context of qualifications and certification.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a 10-month full-time position that is annually renewable in accordance to NHCCS approved policies and procedures. The typical work day is from 7:30 AM to 4:15 PM.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy.
