Description ACCOUNTS PAYABLE SPECIALIST 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Assist the School Business Administrator in the operations of an effective and efficient purchasing program and business functions for the district
  • Ability to think critically and problem-solve, set goals, and work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate to a wide variety of audiences orally and in writing
  • Maintain complete and systematic set of records of all financial transactions of the district
  • Record detail of school financial transactions in appropriate journals, subsidiary ledgers, and technology systems from such sources as purchase orders, requisitions, and other sources
  • Encumber and process purchase orders for payment
  • Research discrepancies in billing and take action to ensure correction        
  • Prepare bill lists for Board of Education meetings
  • Assist auditor to reconcile all disbursements and receipts
  • Bookkeeping and accounting skills
  • Knowledge of accounting systems
  • Technology savvy and knowledge of financial systems and tools
  • Assume other related responsibilities and duties within the context of the above primary function and/or major duties
