Description

Dover Public Schools is a progressive, culturally diverse school district in Morris County serving approximately 3,600 students, Pre-K through grade 12.  Dover Department of Special Services is currently accepting applications for the position of Transition Coordinator/Work Based Learning Coordinator. The candidate should have experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disabilities, and other severe learning disabilities. The candidate should be familiar with planning for Community-based Instruction and the development of work plans and functional goals. The coordinator will:

  • Act as liaison between community/agency/service providers and the school’s Tiger Collaborative Program, which includes making the appropriate referrals for placement in work-based learning experiences and/or introductions to agencies. 

  • Plan, develop,  and oversee the development of transitional plans and Work-Based Learning experiences (formerly known as Structured Learning Experiences) in accordance with NJ Work-based Learning Guidelines and NJ Safe Schools. 

  • Inventory and assess students’ post secondary employment needs and prepare information for the child student team, parents and students

  • Assist in the preparation of the transition planning section of the IEP 

Qualifications

  • NJ teacher certification as a Teacher of the Handicapped or dual certification Teacher of Student with Disabilities certificate and content area certificate.

  • Completion of New Jersey Work-Based Learning Program Certification (formerly known as Structured Learning Experiences) through NJ Safe Schools.

  • Excellent communication, organization and record keeping skills.

  • Minimum of three years' teaching experience.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
