TEACHER OF WEB DESIGN
PAYNE TECH
 

 

The Essex County Schools of Technology is seeking a 10-month Teacher of Web Design at Payne Tech for the 2024-25 school year.


Postion Purpose  
-
 Under the School Principal's supervision, the Web Design Teacher plans and teaches their subject area, following the scope and sequence for all courses; provides instruction to students in a variety of planned courses; provides the use of real life applications and simulations to instruct students in the analysis and interpretation of material being presented; instructs the use of tools, materials, processes, and applications of technology, including pertinent software applications, in the development of lessons, and uses formal and informal classroom and district assessments.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Appropriate NJ CTE Certification
  • Ability to use and instruct students in Digital Design related curriculum
  • Experience with Adobe Suite and Tools
  • 1-2 years’ experience teaching high school students
  • Experience with FBLA
  • Degree in Digital Media, Graphic Design, or Business Technology
  • Experience with teaching the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite
  • Experience with website design and HTML programming
  • Adobe ACA Photoshop certified
  • Ability to use the laser engraver, DTG printer, and other related digital design equipment

  Performance Responsibilites:
  • Instructs students in fundamental web design skills, covering areas such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and user experience principles.
  • Develops and delivers engaging lessons that incorporate real-world website examples and industry trends, fostering creativity and innovation in design.
  • Designs assessments and adjusts teaching methods to accommodate the diverse learning needs of individual students, ensuring understanding and mastery of web design concepts.
  • Prepares students for success in the dynamic field of web design through comprehensive instruction, including project-based learning and portfolio development.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to stay abreast of current educational trends and industry practices in web design, continuously enhancing teaching strategies and curriculum materials.
  • Cultivates a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills, encouraging students to explore and experiment with different design approaches.
  • Maintains accurate records of student performance and progress, providing feedback and support to facilitate growth and improvement.
  • Integrates technology and current web design practices into the curriculum, keeping content relevant and aligned with industry standards.
  • Guides students in understanding web design concepts and their practical application in various industries, preparing them for future careers in web development and digital design.
  • Plans and develops instructional plans, lessons, and support activities aligned with the approved web design curriculum, ensuring coherence and continuity in learning.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, modifying instructional methods to fit individual student needs and promote achievement.
  • Provides individual and small group instruction as needed, including support for students with special needs, ensuring equitable access to learning opportunities.
  • Maintains familiarity with district and state standardized tests for the purpose of adapting curriculum to maximize student achievement on such tests, integrating relevant skills and knowledge into instruction.


Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Terms of Employment
 This is a full-time day position during 10 months of the year. This position is governed by the collective bargaining agreement by and between the Board of Education and the Essex County Vocational Education Association.
Compensation
(2022-2023 contractual rate) Contract for 2024-2025 is currently under negotiation.

The Essex County Vocational and Technical High Schools are public schools supported by County, State and Federal Funds. There are five such programs operated by the Board of Education for the Vocational Schools in the County of Essex. These include four high schools and one adult center.  In addition to salary, the Board of Education offers fringe benefits to all employees.
