Description Major Responsibilities and Duties:
The Manager of Security plays an integral role in achieving the mission and goals of the Orange Board of Education by providing all of Orange’s students with a safe and secure place to learn. Specifically, the Manager of Security develops and oversees the effective execution of policies, structures and systems that promote a safe and orderly environment for students in a variety of learning environments, including school buildings, district-provided transportation and off-site learning experiences. This position reports to the School Business Administrator and will oversee the day-to-day operations of various personnel. The Manager of Security works closely with district leaders, and principals to help ensure the physical safety of all district personnel and students. This position may also be responsible for other duties as required.

Required Qualifications and Skill-Set:
1. Be able to work with police and security personnel as well as school district staff.
2. Hold and maintain a valid driver’s license with no serious violations (if applicable to assignment).
3. Minimum of (5) years’ experience in planning, organizing, and directing security or law enforcement service activities involving the protection/security of persons and property.
4. Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.
5. Exhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents and the community.
6. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
7. Provide proof of U. S. citizenship or legal resident alien status by completing Federal Form I-9 in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
8. Provide evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted and clearance has been given by the Department of Education, or, during the initial six-month period provide a sworn statement that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly persons offense in accordance with 18A:6-7.1.
9. Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A.4.
10. Pass the State required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test as required by N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A.4.
11. Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
12. Possess a valid SORA (Security Officers Registration Act) License or equivalent. Former military and law enforcement experience is a plus.
