Position Summary:
East Orange Community Charter School is seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Principal who is effective in multiple roles to join our dedicated team. The Assistant Principal will work closely with the Principal to support the school's mission and educational objectives. The Assistant Principal at EOCCS will support the Principal, staff, students, parents and the community. The ideal candidate is an excellent team player who is a highly motivated educator with a passion for elementary education, a strong commitment to student success to close the achievement gap, and exceptional leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:


1. Instructional Leadership:
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement effective instructional strategies.
  • Support teachers in creating a positive and engaging classroom environment.
  • Build relationships with teachers to inspire the climate and culture of the school.
  • Monitor and evaluate classroom instruction and provide constructive feedback.
  • Promote the use of data-driven instruction to improve student achievement.
  • Provide the principal, board members and other stakeholders with school-wide data reports that measure students' performance and growth on state and benchmark
  • assessments.
  • Circulates between all four buildings, providing school-wide support and visible presence for staff, students and families.
  • Supports Extended Year and Extended Day Programs throughout the school year and during the summer.

2. Student Support:
  • Implement and oversee student discipline and behavior management policies.
  • Work with teachers, counselors, and support staff to address the needs of individual students academically as well as socially and emotionally.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive school culture that values diversity and respect.

3. Curriculum Development:
  • Assist in curriculum development and alignment with state standards.
  • Support teachers, supervisors and the principal in the selection of instructional materials and resources.
  • Ensure the implementation of a well-rounded and engaging curriculum.
4. Professional Development:
  • Provide professional development and educational technology training opportunities for teachers to enhance their skills.
  • Mentor and coach teachers to improve instructional practices.
  • Create opportunities for ongoing learning and staff development that are informed by data.
  • Stay current with educational trends and research.
5. Operations:
  • Support operational school functions, including Fiscal, Maintenance, Registrar and Security departments.
  • Execute results-focused school operations and resource management that ensure minimal disruptions to teaching.
  • Develop and maintain a purposeful school culture that supports a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Works with the Principal and school staff to develop master schedules.
  • Assists the Principal and school staff to create, monitor, and maintain systems that enhance organizational efficacy
  • Coordinates programs and activities within the school under the direction of the Principal
  • Ensures compliance of local, state and federal laws and regulations and
  • Maintains the safety and security of all scholars, staff, visitors, and property.

6. Administrative Duties:
  • Assist the Principal in day-to-day school operations.
  • Participate in school leadership meetings and decision-making processes.
  • Assist the Principal with management of school budgets and resources.

7. Community Engagement:
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and the local community.
  • Collaborate with families to support student learning and development.
  • Represent the school at community events and meetings.

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Educational Administration and/or Leadership
  • Valid New Jersey Principal Certification (Standard or CE)
  • Minimum of [5] years of experience in education, with leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of elementary curriculum and instructional best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and flexibility to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Dedication to the school's mission and values.
