ANTICIPATED: Teacher, ESL

Manville School District is seeking an innovative and dynamic ESL Teacher to work with students in grades 3 through 8. This unique position offers the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of English language learners across multiple grade levels, providing tailored instruction to meet their varying linguistic and academic needs. Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement comprehensive ESL curriculum and instructional strategies for students in grades 3 through 8, encompassing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.

• Provide direct ESL instruction to individuals or small groups and whole classes of students, adapting lessons to accommodate varying proficiency levels and learning styles.

• Collaborate with content area teachers to support ESL students in accessing grade-level content and language-rich academic materials.

• Utilize a variety of instructional resources, technology tools, and authentic materials to engage students and enhance language acquisition.

• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom climate that celebrates diversity and promotes cross-cultural understanding.

• Implement ongoing assessment practices to monitor student progress, adjust instruction, and provide timely feedback to students and families.

• Encourage student involvement in extracurricular activities, community events, and cultural experiences to enrich language learning and promote social integration.

• Participate in professional development opportunities, workshops, and conferences to stay current with best practices in ESL instruction and language acquisition.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, TESOL, Linguistics, or related field.

• Valid teaching certification/license with ESL endorsement or specialization.

• Previous experience teaching ESL to students in grades 3 through 8, preferably in a diverse educational setting.

• Strong understanding of second language acquisition theories, principles, and best practices.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, and families.

• Flexibility, creativity, and adaptability in designing and delivering instruction to meet the diverse needs of ESL learners.

• Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education, with a focus on promoting educational equity and closing achievement gaps.

• Proficiency in a second language is highly desired but not required.

• Dedication to ongoing professional growth and development in the field of ESL education.
