Pioneer Academy is anticipating an opening for a Computer Science Teacher for the 2024-2025 academic year.


  • The primary classroom responsibility is to teach AP and Advanced Computer Science.
  • Prepare daily lesson plans focusing on Computer Science standards, course objectives, student performance and student assessments.
  • Teach technology classes with an emphasis on computational thinking and computer science/engineering concepts in High School.
  • Participate actively in the life of the school, including leading clubs and/or activities, chaperoning school trips, and possibly coaching.
  • Create a safe and engaging classroom environment where students feel comfortable learning and exploring new content.
  • Plan effective lessons and assessments using the materials in the curriculum.
  • Demonstrates and teaches Computer Science in a classroom setting using computational analysis and problem solving through mobile app development and/or physical computing.
  • Provides instruction and course/program management in the overall knowledge and application of hardware design and software development, allowing students to discover computer science concepts and skills by creating personally relevant, tangible, and shareable projects.
  • Teaches knowledge and understanding of careers in Computer Science.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student growth and progress in Computer Science activities and modifies instructional methods to fit student’s individual needs.
  • Communicate with students and parents concerning their progress.
  • Attend staff development activities.
  • Facilitate and improve the school’s science and technology programs.
  • Plan and oversee information technology curricula.
  • Plan and execute programs to actively engage students, parents, and the community.
  • Deliver STEM-oriented instruction (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through Project-Based Learning methods.
  • Use a variety of technological applications and online resources.
  • Teach school-approved curriculum while creating a classroom and total school environment that is conducive to learning and is appropriate to the interests of the students.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward academic achievement and curriculum goals.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students in a variety of ways on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Build effective relationships with parents and students through regular communication and is available to students and parents for education-related purposes, e.g., open house, conferences, extra-curricular activities.
  • Teach students to work collaboratively to solve problems and to think logically and creatively.
  • Complete other duties as assigned and maintain a strong, regular personal attendance record.
