New Jersey, like many states around the country, is in desperate need of substitute teachers.  This can be a great opportunity for those in college, transitioning between jobs, or for a retired person looking to continue working.

There are several benefits to becoming a substitute teacher.  You can set your own schedule, gain valuable experience that can improve your chances of landing a full-time teaching job, and acquire an array of transferable skills.  Each school district has varying rates that they pay their substitutes so it's best to inquire with each district to find out their pay rate.

There are two pathways to becoming a substitute teacher in New Jersey

1) Substitute Teacher Credential Pathway 1 (Per N.J.A.C. 6A:9B-7.3)
