Behavior Specialist

The Superintendent invites qualified and interested candidates to apply for the position of Behavior Specialist.

The Camden City School District is in the midst of a transformative period marked by progress. Since 2012, the graduation rate has increased from 49 percent to 66 percent while the dropout rate has decreased from 21 percent to 11 percent. Across all District schools, staff are focused on providing the appropriate supports to students to ensure they are successful. In the past few years, this focus has included a shift toward restorative practices and trauma-informed care, which has led to declining suspension rates and increased attention on school climate and culture.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s degree or five years minimum applicable experience

· Preferred: licensed as a Board Certified assistant Behavioral Analyst (BCaBA) or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification

· A valid driver’s license as well as current insurance and vehicle with valid registration

· Required criminal history background check, physical and proof of U.S. citizenship or ability to work in the U.S.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Major roles and responsibilities include:

· Teach and lead the use of positive reinforcement, to increase desirable behaviors and improve behavioral and social skills of identified students, in one on one, small group, or professionally collaborative environments.

· Create and/or implement behavior plans, curriculum modifications, accommodations and social skills lessons for identified students

· Provide school staff with resources, tools, in-class modeling, training and/or support on techniques to promote positive student behaviors, tailored to identified needs

· Oversee and provide consultation to school staff regarding programming and IEP implementation, and attend IEP meetings as determined by the Special Services team, as needed

· Assist in the development of and oversee behavior plans for in-classroom implementation and assess progress of effectiveness of behavior plans and curriculum modifications for students with and without IEPs

· Conduct behavior assessments and devise appropriate behavior plans to meet students’ needs

· Coordinate communications between home and school with regard to home-based goals and provide consultation and recommendations to parents regarding behavior

· Collaborate with school leadership teams, teachers, staff, students, parents, and community partners to devise appropriate, student friendly support plans for identified students

· Complete other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Supervisor’s designee
