The Board of Education invites applications from qualified candidates for the following position:
2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR
Position: Middle School English Language Arts Teacher / Teacher of Students with Disabilities (Tenure-Track)
Effective date: September 1, 2026
Reports To: Principal / Superintendent
Nature and Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Principal / Superintendent, the Middle School English Language Arts Teacher / Teacher of Students with Disabilities will provide a comprehensive, standards-based instructional program aligned with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards. The teacher will deliver high-quality English Language Arts instruction while supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of students with disabilities in inclusive and specialized instructional settings. Responsibilities include implementing and monitoring individualized education programs (IEPs), applying differentiated and evidence-based instructional strategies, and maintaining a structured, inclusive classroom environment.
The teacher will collaborate closely with general education staff, child study team members, related service providers, and families to ensure appropriate instructional supports, accommodations, and progress monitoring for all learners.
Preference may be given to candidates with experience at the middle school level, familiarity with sheltered instruction strategies (SIOP), and demonstrated success in inclusive and co-teaching environments.
Qualifications:
- Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate in one of the following:
- Middle School with Subject Matter Specialization: English Language Arts (Grades 5–8) (Endorsement Code 1106), or
- Teacher of English (Grades 7–12) (Endorsement Code 1410),
- and a valid Teacher of Students with Disabilities endorsement (CE, CEAS, or Standard Certificate accepted).
- Experience working with students with disabilities at the middle school level
- Proficient in differentiated instruction and inclusive classroom practices
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with colleagues and families
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for adolescent learners
- Required Criminal History Check
- Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status by completing Federal Form I-9
- Pass required State Mantoux/Tuberculin test and physical exam
