TITLE: Food Logistics Specialist

REPORTS TO:

Assistant Director of Food and Nutrition Services and Warehouse Coordinator of Plant, Property and Equipment

JOB SUMMARY

The Food Logistics Specialist is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the efficient movement, storage, and delivery of food products within the district. This position ensures that all logistics operation is conducted in a timely, safe, and compliant manner. The specialist serves as a key link between suppliers, transportation providers, and internal departments to maintain a seamless and cost-effective supply chain.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; supervisory experience
  2. Valid criminal background check and any state mandated clearances for school
  3. Proof of S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
  4. Current residency in New Jersey, approved residency waiver or candidate agrees to obtain residency within one year of
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with transportation providers, warehouse personnel, and internal departments.
  6. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities to manage multiple priorities, track shipments, and address logistical challenges promptly.
  7. Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in documentation, inventory control, and
  8. Solid understanding of logistics, supply chain management principles, and food distribution processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinate the daily receipt, storage, and distribution of food, beverages, and supplies

from the central warehouse to school sites.

  1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records; oversee storage, rotation, and restocking of food products to ensure optimal freshness and compliance with safety
  1. Collaborate with vendors, distributors, and transportation providers to confinn order accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and ensure cost-efficient operations.
  2. Ensure proper handling and storage of food items, maintaining compliance with USDA and local health department requirements.
  3. Conduct periodic physical inventories and cile variances between physical and electronic records.
  4. Support emergency and special food distribution programs (e.g.• summer meals, after-school meals).
  5. Assist in the preparation of reports related to inventory and compliance
  6. Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and support the district's sustainability and fiscal goals.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Twelve (12) months; non-tenurable.

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Warehouse Coordinator for Plant, Property & Equipment and the Assistant Director for Food & Nutrition Services in accordance with NJ State law and the provisions of the board's policy on evaluations.
