Union County Educational Services Commission is a public school district located in Westfield, NJ that was established to provide innovative and cost-effective educational programs for its 21 member districts in Union County.  The Commission is currently seeking School Safety and Security Monitors to fill hourly positions in the Extended School Year Program at Crossroads School, an elementary public school serving preschool, elementary and middle school students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Westlake School, a middle and high school program serving students with cognitive impairments, multiple disabilities and autism spectrum disorders.

Description:

• Dates: July 1 - August 9, 2024
• Hours: 8:45 - 2:15 p.m., Monday - Friday 
• Rate: $23.52/hour

Sample Responsibilities:
 
• Assist in maintaining order by monitoring school entrances and exits, corridors, grounds and all teaching and non-teaching areas of the school building.
• Investigate complaints, suspicious conditions, and any other occurences that would endager school personnel; student and/or school property and equiptment.
• Report significant incidents, safety concerns and other unusual circumstances to building administrators. 
* Conduct daily screenings of students and staff following local, county and state health and safety protocols. 

Qualifications: 

• Minimum of High School Diploma, College Degree preferred
• Previous experience in law enforcement and/or working with high school students, preferably in an educational setting 
• Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills needed to relate well with students, teaching staff and administration
