St. Thomas Aquinas High School is seeking a replacement Business Teacher and Proctor to support our Business Department for the remainder of the academic year. This position provides classroom instruction, supervision, and academic support to students while upholding the mission and values of STA. For the right candidate, there may be an opportunity to interview for a full faculty position in the future.
ResponsibilitiesTeaching Responsibilities
The teacher will deliver instruction for a the second semester of a Business course:
Semester 2: Investment & Financial Literacy
The second half of the course focuses on:
- Investment strategy fundamentals
- Reading and interpreting financial statements
- Understanding financial ratios and trends
This semester gives students a high-level introduction to financial concepts and the range of opportunities available in business after college.
The teacher is responsible for preparing lessons, providing meaningful instruction, assessing student progress, and maintaining a positive, structured learning environment.
Proctoring Responsibilities
- Supervise classes when covering for absent teachers
- Maintain a safe, orderly environment during study periods, assessments, or independent work
- Ensure student accountability, attendance, and adherence to school policies
- Provide general classroom support as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field strongly preferred
- Prior teaching or instructional experience is helpful but not required
- Strong communication, organizational, and classroom-management skills
- Ability to convey concepts clearly and support students of varying academic levels
- Commitment to the mission of Catholic education and the STA community
- Background Check & Compliance Requirements
All candidates must meet diocesan and state requirements for working in a Catholic school, including:
- Successful completion of a criminal background check
- Completion of Virtus/Protecting God’s Children training
- Submission of required employment and compliance documents (I-9, transcripts, references, etc.)
- Adherence to all school safety policies and guidelines
Additional Information
- This is a temporary replacement position, but candidates who demonstrate strong instructional skills and alignment with STA’s mission may be considered for a future full-time faculty role.
- Compensation is commensurate with experience.
