Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child is a coeducational school from PK4 to grade 6 and girls only in grades 7-12.  Position Overview

Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child seeks an experienced and collaborative Director of Curriculum & Instruction to lead teaching and learning in the Lower School (Grades PK-6). Reporting to the Head of Lower School Division Head, this role serves as the academic and instructional leader for the division, supporting curriculum design, instructional practice, assessment, and professional learning. This is an 11-month position with a salary range of $60,000 - $75,000.

 Curriculum Leadership

  • Lead the design, implementation, and refinement of a cohesive, mission-aligned PK-6 curriculum.
  • Ensure vertical and horizontal alignment across grade levels and disciplines in the Lower School.
  • Collaborate with the Upper School Dean of Teaching and Learning for PK-12 progression and alignment.
  • Oversee curriculum documentation, scope and sequence development, and program mapping.
  • Support interdisciplinary learning, inquiry-based instruction, STREAM integration, service learning, and thoughtful use of technology.
  • Facilitate annual update and review of the Lower School Book of Studies.
  • Lead faculty in the research, review, and selection of new curriculum materials and programs.
  • Provide strategic oversight to ensure curriculum embeds cultural competency and global perspectives across content areas and grade levels.
  • Facilitate curriculum events for families.
  • Prepare and present curriculum presentations to families, faculty, and Board of Trustees as needed. 

 Instructional Leadership & Faculty Support

  • Serve as an instructional leader and coach, supporting faculty in strengthening teaching practice and student engagement.
  • Collaborate with teachers on innovative lesson design, assessment strategies, differentiation, and student support.
  • Conduct formal and informal classroom observations and facilitate reflective conversations.
  • Play a key role in new faculty hiring, onboarding, and mentoring.
  • Design and lead a comprehensive professional development program aligned with school goals and faculty needs.
  • Oversee faculty professional goal development.
  • Plan and facilitate workshops, professional learning communities (PLCs), and collaborative planning time.
  • Guide the development and implementation of developmentally appropriate assessment practices.
  • Analyze student data to inform instructional decisions and curricular refinements.
  • Collaborate with faculty to address diverse learning needs.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner closely with the Lower School Division Head, Lower School Assistant Division Head, grade-level leaders, curriculum coordinators, support staff, and admissions.
  • Support accreditation, self-study, and program review related to curriculum and instruction.
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding curriculum, instructional philosophy, and program initiatives.
  • Partner with the administration in the hiring process including: reviewing resumes, interviewing candidates, scheduling campus visits, calling references, etc. (Note: Timeline may include work through the summer months)
  • Oversee school to family communications including curriculum summaries, report cards, interim reports, and narrative reports.
  • Collaborate with the Admissions team and support Admissions events.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Lower School Division Head.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field required
  • Significant experience teaching and/or leading in a PreK–Grade 6 setting
  • Demonstrated expertise in curriculum design, teacher evaluation, instructional coaching, and professional development
  • Strong understanding of child development and elementary pedagogy
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills

Compensation & Application

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience; benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement contributions and tuition remission.
