FULL-TIME Bus Driver/Custodian

Little Ferry Public Schools is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and team-oriented individual to join our school district as a Full-Time Bus Driver/Custodian.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position that combines student transportation responsibilities with custodial and facilities support. The successful candidate will play an important role in providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our students and staff.

Position Responsibilities

School Bus Driver

• Safely transport students to and from school, athletic events, field trips, and other district activities.
• Conduct required pre- and post-trip inspections.
• Maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful environment on the school bus.
• Follow all New Jersey Department of Education and Motor Vehicle Commission requirements.
• Maintain accurate transportation and vehicle records.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, school staff, and the Transportation Department.
• Assist with other transportation-related duties as assigned.

Custodial / Facilities

• Clean and maintain classrooms, hallways, offices, restrooms, and other school facilities.
• Perform routine cleaning, sanitation, and building maintenance duties.
• Assist with setting up and breaking down rooms and facilities for school and community events.
• Monitor and report maintenance, safety, or building concerns.
• Assist the Buildings & Grounds Department with general duties as assigned.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming school environment.

Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate school bus and passenger endorsements, or the ability to obtain required credentials.
• Meet all applicable New Jersey requirements for school bus drivers.
• Prior school bus driving and/or custodial experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Dependable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
• Ability to interact positively and professionally with students, staff, families, and members of the community.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with custodial and transportation responsibilities.
• Valid New Jersey Black Seal Boiler Operator License preferred
