Assistant Superintendent for Pupil/Special Services
The Edison Public School District is seeking a transformative leader with vision and experience to lead the dynamic learning process for our special education program. Interested candidates should have a strong background in leadership, working with teams of teachers, support staff, and parents, while demonstrating a commitment to providing special needs students with the highest caliber of education based on their individual needs.
Located in Middlesex County, New Jersey, Edison is home to almost 17,000 students ranging from grades PreK-12. The district’s nineteen schools comprises two preschools, eleven elementary schools, four middle schools, and two high schools.
NJ School Administrator or Certificate of Eligibility required
Master’s Degree - Doctoral Degree preferred
Valid New Jersey Instructional and/or Educational Services Certificate
Evidence of in-depth understanding of Special Education laws and codes
5 years successful administrative experience in the field of special education preferred
Comprehensive understanding of technologies and their applications to Special Education Programs
Experience as a special education teacher, counselor and/or child study team member
Experience facilitating and conducting professional development for teachers, paraprofessionals, members of the child study team and related services staff
Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with district administration, school leaders, staff and parents in order to articulate and advance a shared vision for student achievement for special needs students
Demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills and possess the ability to work with all stakeholders
