About Thrive Charter School

At Thrive Charter School, we believe that preparing students for a global future begins with language and culture. Located in Hamilton, New Jersey, our mission is to empower students with knowledge, critical thinking skills, and a strong sense of civic responsibility. We are seeking a dynamic, engaging, and fluent K-8 Spanish Teacher to build an exciting world language program that inspires a love for the Spanish language and celebrates diverse Hispanic cultures across all grade levels.

Position Overview

As the K-8 Spanish Teacher at Thrive, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the world language journey for our entire student body. You will design and deliver age-appropriate, proficiency-based lessons that introduce our youngest learners to basic vocabulary and song, while guiding our middle school scholars toward conversational confidence and cultural literacy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instruction & Curriculum: Design and implement a cohesive, engaging K-8 Spanish curriculum aligned with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards for World Languages (NJSLS-WL).

  • Differentiated Teaching: Adapt teaching methods to meet the developmental needs of varying age groups—utilizing movement, music, and storytelling for K-2, and project-based learning and conversation for grades 3-8.

  • Classroom Culture: Create an inclusive, high-energy, and culturally immersive classroom environment where students feel safe taking risks in language learning.

  • Cultural Integration: Infuse historical, geographical, and cultural elements of the Spanish-speaking world into the curriculum (e.g., celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and cultural traditions).

  • School Community Collaboration: Collaborate with elementary and middle school grade-level teams to integrate cross-curricular themes, and actively participate in school-wide events and professional development.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required (Spanish or Foreign Language Education preferred).

  • NJ Certification: Must hold or be eligible for a valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate:

    • Teacher of Spanish (Endorsement Code: 2530)

  • Language Proficiency: Near-native or native fluency in spoken and written Spanish is required.

  • Background Clearance: Must pass all New Jersey Department of Education background checks, including criminal history review (fingerprinting) and the Chapter 5 Sexual Misconduct/Child Abuse Disclosure.

  • Mindset: Enthusiastic about teaching multiple age groups, highly collaborative, and deeply committed to the mission of charter education.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Salary: $62,000 per year.

  • Health Benefits: Comprehensive medical coverage.

  • Retirement: Eligibility to enroll in the New Jersey state-administered retirement system.

  • Professional Support: Access to dedicated professional development, standard-aligned curriculum resources, and targeted instructional coaching.
