Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide a comprehensive artistic program to develop basic skills that realistically reflect needs and abilities for students through introduction and expansion of creative visual arts, crafts, photography, media arts, and other artistic activities
  • Provide the students with art enrichment activities in order to increase self-esteem and awareness of artistic abilities and interests
  • Incorporate "Peripheral Involvement", "External Involvement", and "Community Outreach Activities" designed to increase student multi-sensory skills, communication skills, critical thinking skills and positive self-image
  • Furnish opportunities for students to become productive though in-depth artistic experiences'
  • Make available to students the opportunity to enjoy the arts, and continue this experience throughout life
  • Attend required program staffings and all other in-service activities including summer as designated by the Principal in the furtherance of Division stated goals and objectives
  •  Implement a curriculum that aligns to the NJCCCS for Visual & Performing Arts 
  • Assist students organize themselves to participate in art shows, contests, etc.
  • Provide instruction that addresses the goals and objectives of a student's IEP, IPP, Student Improvement Plan or 504 plan
  • Attend on-site and off-site meetings, workshops, staffings, events, etc. as directed and needed
  • Perform all other additional duties and tasks assigned by the School Principal/Assistant Principal, or as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid NJ Standard certification as a Teacher of Art     
  • Experience working with Special Education and/or "At Risk" students
  • Experience using Behavior Management techniques 
  • Experience in alternative ed and with special needs students
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must pass CHRU background check
  • Must have recent [within 2 years] Tuberculous screening



Pay Rate: Per Teachers Contract with sick days & personal days
