Anticipated Athletic Director/Supervisor of Health and Physical Education (2026-2027 School year)

North Plainfield Public Schools is seeking a student-centered leader to oversee our athletic program and Health and Physical Education department, ensuring a cohesive approach to student wellness, performance, and character development.

This role connects the classroom and the field by aligning Health and Physical Education with athletics, creating a consistent experience for students rooted in our core values of Caring, Appreciation, Respect, and Determination.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all high school athletic programs in alignment with district priorities and NJSIAA regulations
• Supervise and evaluate coaches and athletic staff
• Develop and oversee the master athletic schedule; ensure effective use of facilities
• Build and maintain systems for scheduling, budgeting, inventory, and program management
• Provide instructional leadership for Health and Physical Education by supporting curriculum, evaluation, and professional learning

Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate
• Supervisor or Principal Certificate required
• Teaching and coaching experience required; administrative experience preferred
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills

Position Details

• 12-month position
• Salary and benefits per NPAEAS agreement

Salary: $110,667 (minimum) to $154,947 (maximum) commensurate with experience

Supervises: Health and Physical Education Departments, Assistant Athletic Director/Coordinator of PE and Health, Coaches, Athletic Trainer
