Morristown Beard School seeks a dynamic and dedicated full-time Computer Science teacher for grades 6-12 for the 2026-2027 academic year. Passionate about guiding students in ethical and innovative uses of technology, the ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and enthusiastically develop project-based curricula and assessments that advance computational thinking. This individual will also contribute positively to our school’s supportive and caring environment, fostering a respectful, equitable, and inclusive classroom culture aligned with the values of MBS: Personal Responsibility, Awareness of Diverse Perspectives, Engagement, Tenacity, Independence of Mind, Humor and Humility.
The successful candidate will:
- Skillfully teach the fundamentals of computer science to Middle and Upper School students
- Possess advanced knowledge of Java and Python; proficiency with Racket or any other LISP variant a plus
- Demonstrate working knowledge of AI and machine learning frameworks
- Differentiate instruction to meet varied learning needs, interests, and readiness of students
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and willingness to collaborate and communicate readily with colleagues
- Communicate effectively with students and families about student progress
- Identify and support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral
Responsibilities:
- Teach 4 classes
- Serve as an advisor
- Support the School’s activities program, in particular, robotics & drone engineering
- Rotate through supervisory duties, such as detention, dismissal, study hall, etc.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years teaching experience
- Professional alignment with the mission and values of MBS
Salary range/benefits
The expected annual salary range for this position is $60,000-$90,000, commensurate with experience. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.
